Embryonic Stems Cells and Parkinson's Disease

A animal model (Mouse) with the Parkinson's disease was used in experiment, that used the Dopamine neurons taken from the Embryonic Stem Cells. Parkinson's disease is becoming common, it is a condition caused by the loss of the neurons in the brain that synthesize the neurotransmitter dopamine. The Cells taken from the embryonic stem cells can regenerate these dopamine neurons. Due to the controversy there must more research conducted to show that these cells can assist in treating the disease.

Stem Cell Research

Stem cells is used to provide replacement cells for disabling diseases such as Parkinson's, Huntington's, and diabetes. But this topic has ethical controversy with the public and biologists that are conducting this scientific research. The research has a long way to go, and more experiments have to be conducted before cures can be delivered.

Possible Topic

I think that my possible controversial topic might be Drug Legalization (Marijuana) in the United States. There has never been accurate Scientific Research done to prove that Marijuana is harmful, this may be called a drug but there is other harmful and life threating drugs that are permitted such as alcohol, and driving while impaired on other drugs such as pills that include opiates. Almost 100 Americans everyday drink and drive and so ether kill themselves or kill others but there is never a proven fact that marijuana has ever killed anyone.

Stem-Cell Research i think that it is neither wrong or right. Even though it may be the cells that are not yet fully developed, these cells can still benefit life by helping other that suffer from disease such as parkinsons. The chicken egg that we use as food to survive is a cell that is not yet fully developed into a breathing organism. It is not yet alive so you are not taking a fetus or embryo's life, so in this instance we can still benefit someone else that could be suffering or on the brink of death. If the mom is on In Vetro and she has not used all of her eggs and wishes to donate them to research, and if male donates his Seman to research then the fertilized egg should be used to help someone else. The Stem-Cells come from two adults that has came up with a decision to do as they wish even it is wrong or right it can still promote life in many ways.

Should students be punished in school for what they write on myspace, I have been a victim of this at my school so I think what happens in the privacy in someones home should be the responsibility of the parent of the leader of the house hold. If what is published affects someones rights then yes they should be published with the law not the school. If what was published is done on school property then the school should reprimand the student yes I agree. If nothing that does not affect the school or harm anyone that attends then the law should be involved. Whatever comments, statements, videos, and pictures should be that persons private space or way to express themselves; if a law is broken such as libel or anything else the law enforcements should be notified and if the person is prosecuted that should be their punishment not getting expelled from school and then possibly charged by the law.
